Back in Recife, Next Stop? I really don’t know and that’s the good thing about it!
Hi this is my Personal, mezzo-professional, weblog. My Name is Marcelo Eduardo Moraes de Oliveira and I’m a 28 (ok I finally updated it alright? :) ) years old User Experience Designer and really amateur Guitar player. Currently I live in Recife working as Lead of Concept Design and Development with edgy Mobile Phones and Internet tablet devices. I help a incredible team of Designers and Developers develop great solutions for small (and not so small) problems. My job includes something that I really love: Games. Some of this passion can be checked out on my Videogame collections page.
It’s really important to notice that this site reflects my personal opinion and cannot be taken as my employee’s opinion or strategy.
Small Professional background
I’ve been working with user-interaction stuff since 98 when a great friend of mine introduced me to website design. I’ve worked in almost all positions available in the web business (from trainee to boss), fought against the 4.x browser differences, hacked a lot of css, created web development team methodologies, coded some thousands and thousands of Javascript and even Ajax before that name become famous. (yeah asynchronous to the bone my friends).
From those web days, what I really enjoyed was the freedom to create (thanks Ricardo and Raphael) incredible interactive advertisement campaigns. I was able even to be rewarded in some relevant international and national ad festivals. You can check out some of my jobs from this era clicking : donate blood | Origami
But of course, my mutant side has grown on me and I can’t do the same thing for a long period. After 5 years of web development, moved to Rio de Janeiro and back to Brasilia, I finally took a chance into the mobile world. It was my chance to unite what I already liked (web) with something that I was really interested: mobility. This turned out to be better than I expected and I was even able to do another thing that was like a dream: To be paid to develop games. I did some developement(and a lot of debug for Java certify), but worked mainly as game designer /character creator for a very funny game, that came pre-installed in the Ngage QD in Brazil and for other small mobile games. The game ended up as a pretty good project and I was able to travel all over my country talking about the experiences obtained with it. Long life to you Bboy! But those days o j2me coding and Symbian playing were about to end.

I also had the chance to work with interactive art, helping the great Gisele Beiguelman bring to life the code_up project. I really would like to have more time to bring my other ideas (virtual spray can using mobile phone cameras) to life. Mobile phone aware art installations is something that delights me.
2 years later, again I was looking for some other challenges and found myself on another boat: mobile Linux. New world, new (ok not so new to me) system, new kind of device, incredible screen and a need for games. Here I go! This also made me change city, and now, living in the sunny (and smelly) Recife I’m doing what I love : interaction design. UI, Product design, Mobile Games, and everything else people let me dive into!
I cannot tell what the future has for me, but anything “techie” goes if I fell passionate about it. I just want to be able to be in creative spaces with creative people making something different every time.

Olá cara! Eu vi um post seu no site javafree.org e achei ele muito interessante. Bom estou com uma dúvida e espero que você possa me ajudar: Estou em contacom com uma publisher chamada Knum3d(www.knum3d.com), o cara lá quer que eu mande um demo do jogo que desenvolvi, até aí tudo bem! Mas o que me deixou com o pé atrás foi que ele me pediu para que eu colocasse o logo da empresa no inicío do jogo, eu achei isso estranho, afinal o jogo ainda não é deles! O que você poderia me dizer sobre isso? Desde já agradeço.

Eu sou de Recife mas vai fazer dois anos em janeiro que estou morando em Manaus. Acontece que justamente nessa época (começo do ano) eu gostaria de voltar para recife, e estou procurando oportunidades de emprego. Inicialmente a minha vontade é trabalhar na área de jogos, e sei que aí em Recife este mercado está com boas empresas e profissionais. Então, você sabe me dizer como anda a oferta de vagas na área? Do you know if the new OS2006 version can link up to channels 12 & 13 in Europe. If not, will i be missing out by buying the 770 in the US & not in Europe (difference in price - cheaper in the US)
