Canola 1.0 beta2 is finally out!

Canola web site photo
So after some delays we are finally, and officially releasing the Canola beta2, it’s website and we really expect people to enjoy it.

A hell of a work, lots of bug crushing, UI enhancements. We tried to keep Garages bugs at a minimum number always and I think we did.

So point your Maemo device to our site and download canola! Now without those nasty installation problems of the first beta.

ps : Canola is also on the maemo application catalogue

@Jacob: had the same error, remove the openbossa.indt.org from the catalog list, then click the “install me” link on the canola web page.

To the developers: thanks a lot for the great work! beta2 seems to solve the minor issues i recognized with the first version :)

Just wonderful! n800. Sitting in Santa Monica, California amazed at the color, random play, great volume control, super play of pictures…OUTSTANDING WORK. Nokia should just pay you guys a lot of money and release this as an update to their internet tablets.

By the way…zero problems installing. I skipped the config page and just played music and checked out my pix.

    One half hour later.

The IRadio function finds no stations. I have about 25.

I play my IRadio stations ALL THE TIME. I played one of the stations about one hour ago….perfect playing.

But NOW my NOKIA Internet Radio player DOES NOT PLAY my stations. Canola install somehow disabled my Internet Radio. I HOPE this is just a temporary thing, since I use my internet radio all the time.

I note also, there is no support for the new FM radio. But I understand…the FM radio is a recent development.

Also…Canola finds the names of my videos, but does not play them. When I hit PLAY, it returns to the list of videos without playing the video.

I have n800 with the following software loaded, but unused: Maemo Recorder and Media Streamer.

My Nokia Video Player now says “Unable to perform that operation” when I ask it to play my videos.

I turned the 800 off and on…same problem. No play videos or my IRadio.

I removed the battery. The Nokia IRadio now works. GOOD!!

The Nokia video player now plays videos.

    I try Canola IRadio again:

Canola IRadio reports “No Items Found”

I try NOKIA IRadio again…it still works.

I try Canola Video player. IT WORKS. Beautiful fullscreen play with excellent audio.

SO…all I need now is the Canola IRadio.

I try it again..”No items found”. Nokia IRadio
plays the items on my list.

    I hope this feedback helps.

    THANKS For your GOOD WORK.

Okay guys, can anyone help me get Canola installed? Before you ask: yes, I tried the install button on the official Canola website - I get the same error every time:

    libgcrypt11
    libgpg-error0

    are missing.

I have read the install instructions on the Canola site and my N800 already has the 2 repositories mentioned added:

    Nokia Catalogue
    Nokia Catalogue (3rd party software)

I have 2 other repositories in application manager - added I suspect because I installed xterm and the to do list app, these are:

    GPE Calendar
    maemo-hackers

I really do not know what else to try.

    Any suggestions?

Has anyone ever noticed that the Canola webpage only displays “It Works well” when viewed with Firefox 2.0, or am i the only one with that problem? :)

Juepi, I had the same problem with Firefox until I used CTRL+F5 to reload the page from the server rather than from the browser cache…try that…

    Hi russell,

Have you tried disabling the 2 other REPOS? it is really a repo conflict about the libcrypto and the other.

Please let me know if deactivating them works for you!

Marcelo, disabling the other repos did the trick. You are a star!
