Hi all! Wow, this is a great UI!! Your teaser says something about Canola being a media server. Is that like the feature of Mediastreamer to control other rendererd like Roku/Pinnacle Soundbrigde? It would be really great if Canola can be used as a remote for mediaplayers on the one hand (would that include photos and movies to play through another devices like TViX on your TV?), but also to display this content on the Nokia itself (which of cource Canola is already capacle of). Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts on this. By the way: if Canola can be used a remote controller you have a killer app for Sonos and such.... :-)

Guys,

The second version we want to support this, but maybe will be only on the final version. this time we will really have a real real beta period, where our goal is to gather the bigger amount of bug information possible and fix them asap to them finish the features one by one as complete as possible and planned.

So as I've been saying the first roadmap list will be almost open, as we will mainly focus on bugs. So please bare in mind, that we will try to support most of the formats as long as they don't compromise performance / stability of the software.

Joe

You will be very pleased to know that the existing Canola Beta 1 already fully supports Id3 tagged album Art in each mp3 file. I specifically checked this by copying one file from and album I have on my PC to the scanned media cards of my Nokia 770.

Perfect....:-)

You can see some previous screen captures of mine that illustrate How this looks in Beat 1 in an earlier blog post of mine http://mikesl300i.blogspot.com/2006/12/canola-with-themes-and-multi-language.html

Not sure that any of the current Media players support this on the Maemo platform; Even the latest and updated Nokia Media Player (Which has been improved) provided with the Beta install of OS2008 that I have running on my N800 does not provide the capability!

What about something that none of the other Maemo media apps support yet: Tagged album art? All of my music includes this, so its a pain to have to see it downloaded (often very poorly matched) from the internet when it exists within the files.

One thing I'd love to see developers make is what you mentioned as a possible plugin, "Examples of possible plugins are: An Youtube browser - player"

would make the tablets a compete device for me and my online viewing, looks like an excellent product, thanks again from Rip in Australia!

Cheers

Hi Bundyo : Actually we don't support Orb in this first release. We really wanted but unfortunately we have limits. So our priorities is to get the basic quite solid, and of course provide the tools if someone wants to experiment.

So, as far as I know ORB is quite easy to create a web client and the Canola plugin offers everthing people need to do. So if there's some python hacker out there he can tries it, but we will do some studies after the basics features =)

I will count you already as one vote for this. (but I really think it's interesting)
