Itunes use something different, theres a “Part of a compilation” check box, that creates some custom thing : /

This is the problem, there’s is not a real “standard”

I’m not sure what its officially called, but in WMP11 its the album artist tag. I mistyped when I said put it as Various Artists in the album art tag but instead in the album artist tag.

Therefore for non-soundtracks, the artist tag, and the album artist tag would be the same.

For soundtracks, the artist would be whoever actually wrote the song, and the album artist would be Various artists.

I believe this is the way iTunes does its tagging as well, if I’m not mistaken.

It doesn’t work for all cases, that’s the problem because id3 tags has multiple possibilities
“Lead Artists” etc and we don’t want to create a standard just for canola : /

the album art tag, is actually where a lot of user stores their album art file, and to check if it’s the same it’s complicated and doesn’t solve the whole set of cases : /

I still think the best solution for soundtracks is to use the album artist tag to group them, therefore if it’s “Various Artists” as the album art tag, then each individual file can be tagged in the artist section as whichever artist actually does that track.

So yes we will release the 770 soon, the plans didnt changed in that matter

response: we are trying to improve it always..but this is a little. Iit more time will be needed :(

About the. Ontrol point: its on our plans but upnp is not ready in the basic :(

Will it be possible with Canola 2 just to control a media server i.e choose tracks on the server for playback through hi-fi connected to the media server, rather then streaming tracks onto the Nokia 800?

I have a philips streamium product with an IR remote, but I want to control it through the Philips wi-fi link. I can connect to the Philips media server with my N800 (required WEP key), but go no further.

I am not too technical and will appreciate any help you can give.

It is great to see an update so soon. Is there something to be done for the application response ? On my N800 running OS2008 C2 takes almost 15s to start and even inside the app the response is slow :(
