What about being able to use your 770 more as a media player with a very very simple to use UI?
Without needing the stylus to browser your music / videos / photos ? And what about it if it was more a “media player” oriented usage than a internet tablet experience? Something like a networked aware media center? You can listen to your music while someone is using your PC, or even you can watch those lost episodes while your parents browse the internet on your box using a very simple yet familiar user interface? Yeah, apart from the stylus, you can do *almost* everything in the maemo enviroment, but this will show exactly the flexibility and greatness of the maemo platform.
We are preparing something for you, 770 owners, and we will really appreciate any feedback!

Well, something like MythTV on the nokia would be great. Using a server to stream music and video but also an offline mode to listen music and watch videos located in your nokia’s memory.
November 1st, 2006 at 8:58 pmThis would give a new kick to my 770 … its “only” a mobile e-Mail inbox by now.
November 2nd, 2006 at 12:42 amWell, you can do ALL of that already now.
November 2nd, 2006 at 3:09 am“more “media player” oriented than a internet tablet? ” That was the point SabMariner =)
November 2nd, 2006 at 8:38 amAnd thanks the maemo is a great platform and you can indeed do all of that. Well if something is missing, for sure will not when we realese the app, because the apis we use/ported/developed/enhanced will be available in the maemo platform for all applications to use.
can we have the server component on linux please, then I would be very happy
November 2nd, 2006 at 3:32 pmA handful of media player nothing seems correct at this stage.
UPnP Media Streamer for the Nokia 770 is a handful of media player which is available now and when combined with a good UPnP Media Server such as TVersity ;-)
Just waiting for the Media Streamer release with Video support.

So what is this nothing that may just turn out to be something then. Please tell me it’s not another FLOCK, all hype and little real substance.
Look forward to eating my words
November 3rd, 2006 at 8:02 amWe can do all that, but from different places. If you know MythTV you know what I’m talking about, it’s just a program with a full screen interface that you can handle with a remote control to watch tv, listen to music, photos, etc. No need to open new programs, it’s all in a single interface.
November 3rd, 2006 at 11:35 amAlso, the server component should work in linux of course :)
Does your plan have any overlap with what I have described here?
