Things haven’t changed that much in the UI but…

We are almost there. Really. just polishing /testing the final things and make sure everything is going to be hell easy with the installation!

Yes, no problem for 770 users, or n800 users no more repositories to add and all those problems we ran into with the previous version.

So, the ui has just a few improvements on some features, but under the hood it’s a major release : lots of fixes, enhancements, better cpu usage and improved upnp support.

the only thing I really miss is the itunes7 : /

    Marcelo,

    So, will Canola add a radio interface?
    See: http://www.internettablettalk.com/2007/02/07/the-nokia-n800-internet-tablet-has-fm-radio-built-in/

    Beautiful work, Marcelo.

    Nokia should hire you to redesign the entire n800 UI. :-)

    I would love to see the Canola interface used in a comic book reader for the n800.

    @Richard :
    Thanks but I’m not skilled enough to do that =) The whole platform is such a complex system, and I think that is not possible that one person or a small team make it better.

    What I really would like to see is improved hardware for interaction (better touchscreen, better rocker) and then see a community rising to “create” a truly new mobile product on top of maemo. that would be nice, to gather a group to design a alternative “environment” based on fingers not stylus, but trying no to use this same “desktop” metaphor of windows etc. I know sounds like the iphone, but it would be even more complex than that.. =)

    Hi again :)

    Still testing around with Canola on my 770, and i’m having some troubles: seems like Canola cannot read the ID3 tags of some of my songs (every other player can - even the default n770 player) - i can only see them in the “Songs” list - nowhere else (with the full file name without extension).
    How can i completely erase and rebuild the canola database? I’ve tried to delete the canola.db in /media/mmc1/.canola, but that didn’t seem to help.
    Just in case these kind of issues have been fixed in the next release, please ignore this request ;)

    thx,
    Juergen
